BASIC RULES

Pickleball is a fantastic sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.  It’s played on a badminton-sized court with a low net. Here are the basics:

-| COURT SETUP |-
The court is 20 feet wide and 44 feet long, divided into left and right service courts.  There’s a non-volley zone (the kitchen) extending 7 feet from the net on either side.

-| PADDLES & BALLS |-
Players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials.  The ball resembles a wiffle ball but is slightly larger.

-| SERVING |-
Like in tennis, the game starts with an underhand serve.  The server must stand behind the baseline and hit the ball diagonally across the net into the opponent’s service court.

-| SCORING |-
Points can only be scored by the serving team. If the serving team loses a rally, the serve moves to the opposing team, and they get a chance to score.

-| DOUBLE BOUNCE RULE |-
After the serve, both teams must let the ball bounce once before hitting it. After that, the ball can be volleyed (hit without bouncing) but only from outside the kitchen.

-| NON-VOLLEY ZONE |-
Players cannot volley the ball (hit it in the air without letting it bounce) while standing in the non-volley zone.

-| WINNING THE GAME |-
A game is typically played to 11 points, and a team must win by at least two points.  Matches are usually best two out of three games.

-| SWITCHING SIDES |-
Players switch sides after each game.

Pickleball is not only easy to learn but also a lot of fun.  It’s great for players of all ages and skill levels.  And, of course, it’s an excellent way to stay active and socialize.

So, grab your paddle, head to the court, and enjoy the game!  If you need any more detailed tips or have specific questions, feel free to ask!
