Getting into a hobby for the first time as a beginner can be overwhelming. Sometimes, it feels like your head is spinning and money is spewing out of your pockets uncontrollably. But it doesn’t always have to be that way. Pickleball is in a unique position in that the sport isn’t that expensive and it’s also simple to learn.
Whether you’re a beginner who just want’s to learn a new sport for fun, or you’re a seasoned player who craves the thrill of more competitive play, pickleball offers something for everyone.
As a beginner, you might think that it’s just about hitting the ball back and forth over the net. But as you start playing more and learning the basics, you’ll discover that there are many different shots that you can use to control the game and outsmart your opponents. From foundational moments like serving and dinking, to more nuanced aspects of the game like Ernies and third shot drops, there are endless rabbit holes to go down.
As a beginner or intermediate player, you learn best when you get to experience periods of unstructured play, where you can experiment on you own. During practice we create game-like situations that poses problems for the players to solve and the coach to assist with the problem solving process.
I enjoy coaching because it’s extremely rewarding, fulfilling and gratifying. I aways want to be in the know because the game of pickleball is constantly changing. How pickleball was played few years back or year ago, is no longer the case. Players are getting smarter through proper coaching and practice.
As a certified pickleball coach, my focus is on delivering a knowledgeable, exciting and fun first experience through play – practice – play approach which promotes enjoyment, inclusion and development.
